Past Projects

We have had a good variety of lens/doublet alignment, potting/cementing and test applications this winter along with challenging design work for one-of's to production quantities. But they almost all have one thing in common; they were needed yesterday. Our technology and expertise allows us to produce quality work fast. Design and production-quantity supply of lens assemblies
A manufacturer of medical diagnostic equipment had a need to develop a lens assembly for its product. Internally they developed an optical design but needed help with packaging design and parts sourcing. We designed an assembly-friendly package and worked with the company to specify readily-available optics. Then, the company chose to have us procure and assemble the lenses once they reached the production stage while supporting their just-in-time manufacturing system. Recently, a new version of the product required an engineering change to the lens. We supported the design and quickly integrated the change.

Fast prototyping of miniature optical system
A researcher needed help designing and prototyping a 7-element lens array for vision studies. Micro-optical elements with required focusing adjustments in a small package were just a few challenging aspects of the job. We designed the package and necessary focusing adjustment, fabricated mechanical parts, and aligned and assembled prototypes in just weeks after receiving an order.

Precision optical cementing in large quantities
A manufacturer of optical components had a need to supply a large volume of multi-element optical filter assemblies. They looked to us for our extensive experience with optical adhesives, cementing methods and precision fixturing. The work also included inspection.

Opto-electronic alignment and assembly
A consumer electronics supplier needed prototype opto-electronic assemblies for testing a new product and they needed them fast. Critical to the assembly was the alignment of a lens to a sensor. Opto-Alignment Technology developed an alignment system and had it up and running and in less than one week. The assembly work included cementing the lens subassembly, cementing a filter, and the cementing and sealing the entire assembly. Development work also included the analysis of appropriate adhesives.
